“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
Let’s pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show us simple ways to love our neighbors and share His truth and peace. This will look different in every neighborhood, but here are a few ideas:
Call and check on your neighbors and family. Let them know they are not alone. Direct conversation toward hope and not panic. Pray for them over the phone when led.
Trade recipes with friends and make drop off meals for those in need around you.
Share ideas for activities with kids home from school. Trade books, puzzles and board games to keep things interesting. One fun activity is a scavenger hunt. Have your kids hide stuff on walks and make clues and then send them to another family to find on their walk (at least an hour later) and they do the same. That way we are still playing with each other without actually being together.
Make cards for nursing homes and hospitals to give out to patients. They have no visitors at this time.
Use social media to spread hope in scripture and good clean fun to evoke a laugh.
Pray for each home as you walk through your neighborhood.
With family, make a neighborhood calendar and each day assign a couple homes to drop a treat on the porch, or reach out to them through phone or social media.
Enjoy the people under your roof and look for ways to love and serve them in Christ.
Reach out when you are down and allow others to speak truth and encourage your heart.
Connect with us on Facebook and share your ideas with all of us!
Stay focused on our mission.
