“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18 NIV.
Good Morning…or Afternoon, Evening depending on when you click open your Sweet Monday reading.
My fingers are on the keyboard and I’m wondering what to write to this dear community who love to welcome others, who seek to be the Presence of Christ and offer the sweet aroma of His love.
Our world, as if you need a reminder, is broken by
disease that destroys old and young,
sin and sickness that clouds the minds of those who pull triggers or defile space or corrupt power,
relationships that are throttled by hurry, wasted words and selfish indifference.
Wow, Happy Monday!
This is the world we live in and where our Never-Giving-Up God has commanded for us to live as His beloved, chosen, royal daughters and sons.
Wow, Happy Monday!
Oh, but here is the truth I read for today, right here, right now:
The LORD is gracious and compassionate,
Slow to anger
And rich in love.
The LORD is good to all;
He has compassion on all he has made.
The LORD is righteous in all his ways
And loving toward all he has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
To all who call on him in truth.
Psalm 145:8, 9, 17, 18, NIV
For the last six months, my loving Father has held me in this one Psalm preparing me for another sphere of our broken world. I write this sitting in the midst of a choice in my family that has caused great destruction, pain and anger. Honestly, I wrestle with some of this Psalms truth… “good to all” when I see what has happened globally, nationally, and personally. But wrestling with God’s truth has actually revealed more of it. My faith muscles have been called on for new stretching and new steps and I have found God near, in, and for me increasing my strength and vision even if it is just for the hour.
Sweet Friends, in all of our worlds we are touched by grief and sadness, by the unbelievable. That is one reason Sweet Monday exists so women do not have to feel alone. So women can hear the simple, extravagant love of God through our shared stories. We have a God who is near. His name is Jesus and He knows the broken way so we can trust Him to show us how to walk it. Jesus is the Broken One so we can be made whole. As we trust our broken pieces, confessing our willfulness, He comes to shine through our cracks and gaping holes. His sweetness comes to and through us.
Oh Happy Sweet Monday!
