“And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’”
Revelation 21:5
Isn’t fun to see how people are taking old furniture and up-cycling it into something fun and modern? I have always loved to see how artists create sculptures from scraps of old materials. People take old tires and turn them into fun playground equipment. My middle son, Rylee, just parted with his favorite pair of high top sneakers as he dropped them in the recycle bin at the shoe store to be made into sport courts, bags or even new shoes. The caption is priceless; “Old soles never die.”
Our society is becoming ever greener with more and more focus being put on recycling all that is old and transforming it into something new. This is a beautiful reflection of the very character of God. He is the Master Recycler. He is the creator of GREEN! He’s been recycling, restoring, renewing since the fall of man.
The Bible says: He renews our strength. He renews our spirit. He even renews our youth! He restores our soul.
Old soles never die. Neither do old souls; mine and yours. We were made for eternity. We’re God’s treasure, not trash. He sent His only Son to die that you could be called His child. He creates beauty from ashes. He takes our blackened sin stained heart and washes it white as snow. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone. The new has come. Jesus is in the business of transforming old, broken lives into beautiful new creations.
If you are tired of trying to be all that He has created you to be, to do the right things, to live the righteous life, stop. It’s exhausting! He is the one who transforms us. He saved us by grace, not by works. If you want to be more like Jesus spend more time with Him.
Jesus said,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Remember, it is God that is working in us to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose and He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.
