“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in
heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine
righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
Luke 15:7
We live in a world of statistics. More than ever before we are judged and critically judge ourselves by numbers. How many attended your event? How many signed up? How many likes did you have? How many shares? How many followers?
While evaluation and growth are important factors, we often get lost in the “likes” of our society or discouraged by the lack thereof.
I constantly have to remind myself that our mission at Sweet Monday is reaching women for Christ, ONE sweet invitation at a time.
Jesus told three parables in a row in Luke 15 to emphasize how important ONE soul is in His kingdom. The lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son. Three times Jesus shared with the tax collectors, sinners, self-righteous Pharisees and Bible teachers the significance of one sinner who repents. He said, “There is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents and turns to God than 99 who don’t need to repent.”
Jesus, the Good Shepard knows His sheep and His sheep know His voice. He has a relationship with them. Of course He is going to go after the one who strays because they belong to Him.
Sweet Monday is also about relationships with friends, neighbors, church members, co-workers and sharing the Good News of Jesus through simple, fun socials, one invitation at a time.
Speaking of one, let’s encourage each other not to live our lives for the “likes” of the masses, instead let’s turn our gaze toward the One who stamped our hearts with His, who “likes” us as we are and who loves us enough to give His life for ours. Let’s “follow” His example and keep our focus on the one thing that matters most, Him.
His servant and yours,
Paula Nelson
