It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night… Psalm 92:1-2
Sweet Monday has a long history. Over twenty years ago, Kim Newlen began reaching out to her friends and neighbors once a month, sharing a sweet dessert and a dose of inspiration from God’s Word. Today, there are numerous Sweet Monday socials taking place every month as women use this simple model to live out the Great Commission and the great commandment.
In 2005, Sweet Monday became a 501(c)3 non-profit ministry. Our mission has always been to reach women for Christ, one sweet invitation at a time. We rely on our Generous God to meet all of our needs, physical, spiritual and financial and He continues to show us His sweet favor.
Our desire is to be faithful to Him and to the mission He gave Sweet Kim. You may have read our newsletter in the fall and seen our need for funding. We operate on a shoestring budget, trying to be good stewards of the resources the Lord provides us with. However, since Sweet Kim passed away we have had a decrease in giving for the last couple of years.
We shared our need with all of you and invited friends and family to join us in the mission of reaching women for Christ through Sweet Monday.
Join me in thanking and praising God for His steadfast love and faithfulness. He is so good, all the time! I am humbled by your support and faith in the work God is doing in and through this ministry. We were short $36,000 to meet our 2016 budget. God blessed us through His Generous God givers with $35,636.34 through our end-of-the-year newsletter and FUNdraising campaign!
Jesus tells us to store up for ourselves treasures in heaven. The more I study and meditate on that, the more I realize that those treasures are the souls of people… women who we meet in the post office, the grocery store, at the playground, or the gym. As our world moves more towards isolation we must become more intentional about connecting with and reaching out to the women God brings alongside of us.
You have graciously given of your earthly treasure, but the dividends, I promise, are eternal!
We have our “so excited faces” on as God continues to bless Sweet Monday and light our pink path. This New Year, 2017, is full of promise. There will be a Sweet Monday Conference and Tea Party on April 29 in Nashville, Tennessee for anyone interested in Sweet Monday. All are welcome! (Keep your eye out for registration information on Facebook and through this email).
We are also excited about the launch of a new website that will make it simpler and faster for women around the world to begin hosting Sweet Monday, reaching women for Christ, one sweet invitation at a time.
We give God all the glory for the great things He has done! Join us in the chorus of praise!
His servant and yours,
Paula Nelson
