“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
We hear a lot today about how and when to invest for our livelihood. Gold and Silver buying opportunities are almost a staple commercial for any current programming on television. The actors pushing these commodities are all but pleading for us to “invest now before it’s too late!” If gold and silver are not our thing, then, perhaps a reverse house mortgage, a life insurance policy you may be able to cash in on before you die! This list goes on.
Let me ask you a question and your answer will be the most valuable asset into which you will ever invest or you will ever own.
What is the meaning of the cross of Jesus to you?
Please consider your answer as seriously as you would the idea of taking every dollar you have and putting it all into your favorite investment opportunity. Now, consider this: your investment, once you die, has the power to benefit YOU and will pay eternal dividends! Unlike any world currency, stock or other commodity, in reality the only thing you truly own and over which you have complete and total control, is the destination of your soul. Jesus has completed everything else necessary to make your decision and this transaction a done-deal!
So, I don’t want to rush you like the sales pitch we often hear, “Time is running out! You have only a few hours to get this great deal before it is no longer available. We have a limited supply so gets your NOW!!” – but I deeply encourage you to ponder the question and more importantly your answer. Above all, please know this: God’s supply NEVER runs out and the only time restriction is the length of your days.
In my house I have one rule I take very seriously. Whenever doing anything that requires having fun, my mantra is “I take no prisoners!” If you do not want to participate in an activity with those who see the activity as fun, then, by all means DO NOT JOIN US!! It is simply no fun trying to convince someone who has no interest, that, they must have fun.
Well, this is a very light analogy by comparison but I hope it will help make the more serious point being, why would God want to take prisoners to heaven for eternity if they don’t want to go? He will not press you or me in a hard sell attempt to get us to “buy into” His “asset” for which He has provided peace in this world and salvation for the next.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28-30]
Would you like to join me in the most exciting adventure ever? Unlike world ventures, there are no risks and the only outcome will be predictably amazing!
God, You sent Your Son, Jesus to invite me, yes me, to the eternal “grand ball” where You are “making everything new…a new heaven and a new earth.” It is a place where “there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain….” Surely, if there is such a place, I too want to be there! AMEN [verse selections from The Book of Revelation, chapter 21]
To The One Who conquered the grave and even death itself…Jesus!
