As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12
It’s strawberry season and our family is in sweet heaven on earth! There are the most beautiful red berries, plump and ripe filling the produce section. The best thing is they are on sale! We can buy twice as many as usual since the stores have been running a special buy one get one free.
A few years ago my sister gave me the funniest looking gadget, a little red tool with a green button on top. The tag titled it a strawberry pitter. It took a few tries, but I finally got the hang of taking the pits out of the tops of the strawberries, leaving only the juicy red fruit, not wasting any of the sweet stuff and getting rid of the white core and stem. It works so perfectly.
As I’ve been pitting many pints of strawberries these last few weeks I started thinking about how Jesus does the same for us. He takes out our old sinful nature and removes it. In fact he does more than send it down the garbage disposal, He sends it as far as the east is from the west. Even Einstein couldn’t measure that distance.
Jesus didn’t use an inexpensive little gadget he got at the kitchen store, though. His tool was the brutal cross and it wasn’t cheap. It cost Him everything. He gave His life to pay the penalty of our sins which is death. It was a buy one get one free, though. Jesus paid the full price for our sins and then He gives us the free gift, eternal life. It works perfectly. We go to the cross and Jesus removes our sins.
He even went one step further by filling us with His sweet Holy Spirit, the whipped cream on top.
Have a Sweet Monday knowing that you are forgiven and free; your sins are washed away.
His servant and yours,
