Every day women are lonely, discouraged and disconnected because we live in a broken world moving toward isolation. Sweet Monday is a network of women who use their homes and hospitality to reach women with the love of Christ. We exist to equip and encourage these women, our Hostesses, as they open their homes to build healthy relationships and connect women to the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to create opportunities for women around the world to connect with one another and with His Word.
Praise God for our annual Board of Directors retreat last weekend. Our Sweet Monday board, made up of 10 women from Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennessee, met together for 4 days and 3 nights at a beautiful home on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina to seek God’s heart for this ministry. Our Generous God Givers, Sweet Kay and John Sansom, graciously welcomed us into their home which became our sanctuary for the weekend.
Prior to the retreat, our summer reading this year was The Gospel Comes with a House Key by Rosaria Butterfield. We came together having our hearts united and inspired by Rosaria’s words on radically ordinary hospitality. We focused on Isaiah 54:2, Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. Our weekend was dedicated to seeking what that means for Sweet Monday.
As we arrived on Thursday night, we began with a time of worship and prayer. On Friday and Saturday, we had times of listening to the Lord as well as a powerful message from God’s Word brought to us by long-time Hostess and Sweet Monday supporter Ruth McWhite. We laughed a lot, ate delicious food (lots of chocolate), and spent many hours seeking the Lord’s wisdom and plans for Sweet Monday. We sense God has given us a BIG vision for 2020 as we prepare to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Please join us in praying for direction and opened doors as we follow the bread crumbs He continues to give us concerning how this plays out for Sweet Monday.
After such a wonderful weekend, we were all sad to leave. Our excitement continues as our text chains attest. We love each other and being together; even as a board, we fulfill the vision of Sweet Monday – connecting women to each other and to Christ. We spur one another on toward love and good deeds and encourage each other. We are so excited about our upcoming Silver Anniversary Celebration in 2020 and how we will continue to spur women on toward love and good deeds.
