“Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” Matthew 11:29, The Message
Several things have had me thinking about this:
- Hoola Hoops! We ended our quarter with elementary students in a hula hoop contest. Amazing “hoopers!” I never learned how to do this so I am always in awe of the rhythm, stamina, balance and fun they have in this movement.
- Surfing! Another sport I love to watch but do not participate in. Living in Hawaii provides lots of great scenery of water and these water riders.
- Movement! I heard a guest on a podcast say your best balance is always in motion.
Where do you see balance in motion physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually?
Jesus’ invitation to walk with Him is a call to balance. It is to follow how Jesus lived the Kingdom life while on earth. Hebrews 12 tells us there is a crowd of witnesses cheering us on to balance faith walking! To strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up (v1, NLT).
Lord Jesus, help us to walk and run in rhythm and stamina with You. You promise us that when the waters are rough, high, crashing in, You are with us. You also command us to stop regular work to rest, worship, and celebrate. May we balance in Your unforced rhythms of grace. Amen.
