Who We Are
Sweet Monday is a 501(c)3 non-profit, international women’s ministry. We are governed by a Board of Directors and sustained by our Generous God through the donations of our sweet supporters. We have over 100 hostesses in over 26 states and 3 countries sharing the Gospel through Sweet Monday socials. Our primary office is located in Richmond, Virginia but our leadership and board members are located all over the southeast United States.
What We Do
The Sweet Monday ministry inspires, trains and equips women who are looking to share the gospel and reach out to women in their neighborhood, church and community. We exist to help women live out the Great Commission and Great Commandment in a fun and faithful way through friendship evangelism. We continuously strive to make it simple and easy for women to reach out to other women for Christ, one sweet invitation at a time by providing the tools and resources to host a Sweet Monday, including themes and devotions.
Why We Do It
When was the last time you were invited to something fun and you…
- Didn’t have to RSVP?
- Didn’t have to bring your checkbook?
- Didn’t have to change your clothes?
- Didn’t have to stop by the store and bring something disguised as homemade?
- Could bring along a friend or two and feel no obligation to return the invitation?
Billy Graham said, “Christians must be open to creative change in trying new ways to communicate the gospel.” (Christianity Today, December 1997)
Women are busy, but many are isolated and lonely. Realizing this need in her own life in 1995, Kim Newlen opened her home the first Monday night of the month to women in her neighborhood, church family, friends and acquaintances–really to whoever wanted to attend. She served one simple dessert, decaf coffee and tea, a dose of inspiration from God’s Word–and candy for the women to share or eat on the ride home.
One thing she learned is that God’s truth and laughter can mix. Yes…fun and faithfulness go together! It’s a wonderful, practical way for women to remember Biblical truths. Sweet Monday can be used in any women’s social setting and is easily adapted to fit the needs of any group. Kim longed for Sweet Monday to encourage women to reach out to the women around them with the sweet aroma of Christ.
And they did–and still do!
